In September 2003, Toyota Center officially became home to the two-time NBA Champion Houston Rockets and four-time WNBA Champion Houston Comets. Located in downtown Houston within walking distance of the George R. Brown Convention Center and Minute Maid Park, the state-of-the-art facility serves as the southeast anchor of downtown Houston's entertainment corridor. Situated on four city blocks, adjacent to the intersection of Clay and Crawford streets, the 775,000 sq. ft. facility hosts more than 200 sports, headline entertainment and family events each year.
Toyota Center offers a seating capacity of 18,300 for basketball, 17,800 for hockey and up to 19,000 for concerts. Recognized as one of the country's most spectacular multi-purpose venues, Toyota Center offers many unique and fan-friendly amenities, including the highest resolution scoreboard in the nation, a state-of-the-art sound system, luxury suites with dramatic views, club lounges, party and hostility suites, and fine dining options.
Toyota Center is owned by the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority and operated by the Houston Rockets organization under the terms of a 30-year lease.
